Many areas of the UK are still recovering from the effects of Storm Ciara, which swept through the country last weekend, causing incredibly fast winds, flooding, snow and even a few fatalities.
However, the Met Office has warned Brits not to become complacent when it comes to protecting their property, as Storm Dennis is on its way.
We can expect 60 mile per hour (mph) winds, blizzards, heavy rain, snowstorms, and more flooding over the next few days.
As a result, the Met Office has announced several yellow warnings so people take extra care in the inclement weather, particularly when travelling.
The storm is expected to last five days, with the whole of the UK thought to be affected on Sunday.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill was quoted by Sky News as saying: “While it’s going to be very windy, they do look like they will be a touch down to what we saw with Storm Ciara.”
Indeed, wind speeds reached 97 mph last week and at least two people in Britain died as the result of falling objects caused by the gales.
The death-toll for the whole of Europe reached seven, as it swept over the continent on its way to the UK.
Storm Dennis, while thought to be milder, could still have a devastating impact as it comes so soon after Storm Ciara, meaning roads and fields are still flooded or water-logged and buildings fragile after the heavy gusts.
Once Storm Dennis has moved on, it is a good idea to call in chimney sweep services to remove any debris that might have been deposited in your chimney during the bad weather.
